Kick Off the Fall Season with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Disclosure: I was invited to Disney’s media night for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2019. The opinions expressed here are my own.

To say I had a blast at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Media Preview is an understatement. Yes, it’s naturally my favorite time of the year but Disney really knows how to throw a great party. Between the parade, characters in costumes, shows, ride overlays, special treats, candy, and a new fireworks show, there is definitely something for everybody to enjoy at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Party Overview

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a special ticketed event that takes place on select nights from now until Nov 1st. All guests are encourage to dress up in costumes as you trick-or- treat around Magic Kingdom. You also get to enjoy special treats, shows, and an amazing parade that only takes place during this nighttime event. Special merchandise is also available for purchase.

Entertainment:

My favorite part of this event (besides the candy of course!) is the entertainment. I absolutely love that they brought back the ride overlays as well as many other favorite party events from last year!

Attraction Overlays

Space Mountain: Speed through space in total darkness while listening to a Halloween-inspired soundtrack and special effects. Honestly, it feels like a completely different ride! Very cool!

Mad Tea Party: A classic ride enhanced with cool lighting effects and a spooky soundtrack. So fun!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Live actors have been added to the ride as you search for Gunpowder Pete. However, this year I noticed an additional 2 live actors on the ride, making it an even better interactive experience!

Monsters Inc Laugh Floor: A brand new attraction experience for this year’s party. Follow the treat trail and you’ll end up at a fun, interactive show featuring characters from the movie. It’s the perfect spot for a break while the little ones are entertained!

Speaking of Monsters Inc, you can also find Mike, Sully, and Boo at the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball dance party, located at the Rockettower Plaza stage in Tomorrowland. This dance party goes all night long and is a great stop for the kids!

Looking for an indoor dance party? Then head on over to the brand new Disney DescenDANCE Party located inside Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. This is a perfect spot to grab a bite and cool off a bit while the kids enjoy the dance party!

The last dance party is perfect for all those Disney Junior fans! Make your way to Storybook Circus where you’ll find characters such as Vampirina, Fancy Nancy, and Timon complete with a DJ!

Shows

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is back again with 3 shows taking place throughout the evening (8:30pm, 10:45pm, and 12:00am), as well as the Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade.

You won’t want to miss some new floats featuring characters from The Incredibles, Toy Story, and making her debut Constance Hatchaway, better known as The Black Widow Bride from The Haunted Mansion. Parade takes place at 9:15pm and 11:15pm.

However, the highlight of the evening’s entertainment is the brand new Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular! This brand new fireworks show is hosted by none other than Jack Skellington, and features our favorite characters, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy, as they set off on a Halloween adventure through a haunted house.

This show was absolutely amazing with its stunning castle projections, effects, lights, and of course fireworks! Make sure you don’t miss it at 10:15pm!

Merchandise

I was so excited to see all the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular merchandise! That movie is one of my faves and I was thrilled to see the Sanderson Sisters being a big theme in this year’s merchandise lineup once again.

The Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Collection was just as spooktacular, as well as the exclusive passholder options available.

You can find this exclusive merchandise at Big Top Souvenirs in Storybook Circus and the Emporium on Main Street. Special pins and Magic Bands can also be found at Frontier Trading Post.

Overall Thoughts

This is by far one of my favorite events at Magic Kingdom. The shows are some of the best I’ve seen at Disney and the Halloween vibes are enough to get you in the spirit of the season. If you love all things Halloween as much as I do, then this is surely an event you don’t want to miss!
